As of 1st September 2017 amended visa fee will apply for national visas. A fee of EUR 75.00 for adults and a fee of EUR 37.50 for children under 18 years of age will be charged.

Visa applicants who wish to visit Germany, Austria, Estonia, Hungary or Latvia on a short term visit (only up to 90 days!) are kindly requested to submit all necessary travel documents to the:

Interviews, however, will be carried out at the German Embassy in Colombo.

We recommend to make use of the services offered by the VFS German Application Centre which clearly redound to your advantage: comprehensive information, competent counselling, transparency of appointment scheduling, flexible accessibility, reduced waiting hours, expedition of visa processing time, fast-track visa process for frequent travellers.

In order to reduce waiting times for our visa applicants who don’t submit their application via the service provider VFS, as well as for German passport applicants, the German Embassy will introduce an appointment system with immediate effect. All applicants are required to book an appointment online

Telephone Hours of the Visa Section

For inquiries about visa matters you can call the Visa Section on Tuesdays and Thursdays 2.00 pm to 3.30 pm. Kindly note that for data protection reasons the Embassy cannot give information regarding the progress of a visa application on the telephone.
