Information concerning visa requirements and processing

Visa applicants who wish to visit Germany, Austria, Estonia, Hungary or Latvia on a short term visit (only up to 90 days!) are kindly requested to submit all necessary travel documents to the:

Interviews, however, will be carried out at the German Embassy in Colombo.

We recommend to make use of the services offered by the VFS German Application Centre which clearly redound to your advantage: comprehensive information, competent counselling, transparency of appointment scheduling, flexible accessibility, reduced waiting hours, expedition of visa processing time, fast-track visa process for frequent travellers.

In order to reduce waiting times for our visa applicants who don’t submit their application via the service provider VFS, as well as for German passport applicants, the German Embassy will introduce an appointment system with immediate effect. All applicants are required to book an appointment online We are grateful for your understanding that due to a very high number of applications access cannot be granted to the visa section without an appointment from 25th May 2016 onwards.
