Non-violent conflict resolution and crisis prevention, the assertion of human rights, the improvement of industrial relations and the programmatic modernization of trade unions as well as gender equity and the social dialogue between employers, Unions and government are the focal areas of work of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) in Sri Lanka. To implement activities in cooperation with national partners, the FES has a project office in Colombo since 1965. Using the network of offices in many South-Asian countries, the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung also promotes dialogue and exchange on emerging issues in the SAARC region. As a German private cultural non-profit institution, the FES is committed to the ideas and values of social democracy.
