Visit to the Sri Lanka - German Training Institute (SLGTI)
Ambassador Rohde made his second visit to the Sri Lanka - German Training Institute (SLGTI) in Kilinochchi this month. A warm welcome was given by school officials and the students, who proudly demonstrated their new skills and presented self-made products.
The institute was opened in July 2016 and is since providing vocational training in a range of fields, such as Automotive Technology, Construction, Food Technology, ICT, Mechanical Technology and Electrical & Electronic Technology. While providing the students with an excellent training, the institute also aims at giving life skills, which shall benefit the students far beyond their vocational careers. By living together on campus the diverse group of students learns to overcome barriers like language and learns to work and live with each other, while forming new friendships. They are also trained in developing new habits in regards to environmental sustainability on a day to day basis, which offers long-term value to the students and their surroundings, and rounds up SLGTI’s training approach.
The German Embassy wishes SLGTI and its students all the best and a successful future.
