260th Birthday of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
Born on 28 August 1749, died on 22 March 1832
This major German writer and outstanding figure of world literature was born 260 years ago. Goethe is one of the best-known representatives of Weimar Classicism. His work includes poetry, drama and prose fiction as well as scientific treatises. One of Goethe’s most famous works is his drama “Faust” (1808).
