German Ambassador meets the Prime Minister

Enlarge image German Ambassador Jens Ploetner held discussions with the Prime Minister, D.M.Jayaratne at the Parliamentary Complex on Thursday. Plötner highlighted the great challenges and opportunities lying ahead of Sri Lanka: "Transforming the Island from a country at war to a society living in peace is a daunting but noble task.”
The Ambassador pledged German support for this endeavour, pointing out that Germany was provided aid totaling Euro 12 million this year alone. "Germany is supporting the resettlement and reconstruction efforts in the North and East to the best of its possibilities".
